More than 500 prominent players in China-UK relations, business and cultural activities attended the launch of the Chinese Year of the Tiger celebrations on Tuesday 9th February at London’s prestigious Dorchester Hotel which preceded the start of the Chinese Lunar Year on 14th February.
Keynote speakers included The Rt Hon Lord Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills; Chen Xiaodong, Charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy; The Rt Hon Lord McNally, Leader of the the Lib-Dems in the House of Lords; Peter Sands, Chief Executive of Standard Chartered; and Tim Watkins, Vice President EU (West Region) of Huawei Technologies (UK) Co Ltd.

The event incorporated a series of awards for businesses that have made outstanding contributions to developing and maintaining Sino-UK business relations, bilateral trade and cultural links. The awards event this year was sponsored by KPMG and announced by the firm’s London chairman Richard Reid.
Other sponsors for the banquet included Standard Chartered, Huawei Technologies (UK) Ltd, Tesco plc and KL Communications.
During the celebrations Virgin Atlantic Airways and the Shanghai JC Mandarin Hotel presented special ‘draw’ prizes.
